NPA are assets which have stopped generating returns.

Open ended schemes

Open ended schemes can be purchased anytime by the investors directly from the fund house. Their purchase and sale is done on continuous basis.

Portfolio

Portfolio means the combination of all the investments in terms of stocks, debentures, money market instruments etc held by an investor/institution for the purpose of generating returns.

Preferred Stock

Preferred stock holders are given preference over common stock holders. They are paid higher and regular dividends than the common stock holders. At the time of liquidation, they are considered above of common stock holders to claim the assets.

Premium

Premium is the amount which is paid by the investor over and above of the face value of the share.

Price-To-Earnings Ratio (P/E)

P/E ratio is the market price of share to earnings per share. It tells what market is willing to pay for every Re 1 of earnings.

R-square

It is a statistical measure that measures the fund's performance vis-à-vis the benchmark index. It can lie between 0 and 100. The value of 100 means the fund has completely matched the movement of index, whereas a lower R-square value means less of correlation between the two.

Rating

Ratings, issued by credit rating agencies, indicates the credit worthiness of the instrument the fund has invested in.

Record date

Mutual funds determine a cut off date in order to determine the investors on that date who will stand eligible for benefits like dividends, bonus shares etc from the companies the fund has invested in

Redemption

Redemption is when an investor withdraws his investments from a particular fund, and is paid the value of his investments
