1. Chembra Peak, Kerala

Nestled in the middle of mountains and located in the Wayanad district of Kerala, the Chembra Peak is loved by adventure and nature enthusiasts alike. It is located 6,900 ft. in the lap of the misty Western Ghats. The usual trek takes about three hours and you can view the beautiful heart shaped lake, 'hridaya thadakam'. From the top of the peak you will be able to see panoramic views of Kozhikode, Malappuram and Nilgiri districts. However, remember to get the appropriate paperwork for the trek as it is mandatory for trekkers to get permission passes from the Department of Forestry to ensure safety as well as for the preservation of wildlife.

2. Hemis, Ladakh

Hemis is one of the lesser known place of Ladakh. Surrounded by snow-capped ranges all around, you can pay a visit to this peaceful and utterly beautiful monastery, Hemis Gompa. You can also visit the Hemis National Park, home to the majestic snow leopard and enjoy the wilderness.

3. Patan, Gujrat

Patan is one of the newest additions to India’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The history of the region dates back to 745AD when Patan was the former capital of the Chandva Rulers. There are temples, lakes and beautiful step walls in every square inch of the city. One of the premier attractions is the grand step-well of Maru-Gurjara as the architectural style is designed as an inverted temple an obeisance to life-giving water.

4. Bishnupur, West Bengal

If you are a history, architecture or archaeology buff, you will love a trip to Bishnupur. There are terracotta temples in the area dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries. The shrines, carvings, weavers look stunning and are likely to make your trip a memorable experience.

5. Mandu, Madhya Pradesh

The beautiful town of Mandu is a symbol of love between Prince Baz Bahadur and Rani Roopmati. One can actually relive the days of the bygone era here. The inspiring Islamic architecture of the town can be seen in the Mandu Fort, Jahaz Mahal, Jami Masjid, Hindola Mahal, Baz Bahadur’s Palace, Rewa Kund. As you walk around the town soaking in the beautiful culture and history, you will feel like you have been transported to a different era entirely.
